The footpath starts just across the main A351 from the Sandford leading out towards Wareham Forest and returning around Decoy Heath and Gore Heath. This is a good area for walks and one we have visited several times. The paths are generally pretty good even in wet weather. One short cut did however prove to be hazardous and Peter's boot became waterlogged. Rob's spare socks came in very handy.
We spotted an illegal camper who made himself conspicuous by the large volume of smoke from his fire.
Some forestry work was being carried out and a rather impressive machine was guillotining the trees, turning them horizontal and stripping off the branches in just a couple of minutes per tree. The forester was not too impressed when told about the camper!
