This was quite a short walk to set us up for our Christmas lunch at Drusilla's. The weather was not very kind but we decided to set out in the relatively light drizzle anyway.
The first short stretch is alongside the rather busy Horton Road but there is a fairly decent verge.
We found that there were numerous tracks running through Ferndown Forest and on into Holt Forest. Although many of them are not signposted a young lady from the Forestry Commission said it was OK to walk along any of the obvious paths and this is what we did. We did not really stick to a plan but just took any path that looked interesting. This worked out very well and we had a very enjoyable walk along paths that were mostly new to all of us.
Lunch at Drusilla's was rather a let down. The standards of the food and service were not as good as last year and not up to their normal levels.
