Good parking by the ford at Moyles Court.  Alternative Car Park marked on map.
The Original White Hart ★
Overall another very good walk on a fine day.

It was raining when we arrived but a ten minutes sitting in the car the weather cleared and the sun started to shine.  It was bright with quite a lot of cloud for the rest of the day.  By 2pm there was a bit of a breeze and it had become noticeably colder.
The walk starts with a short but steep climb up onto the top of Rockford Common.  Looking back towards the west there is a good view over Blashford Lake.
It is not always easy to spot the correct path across the common so it is important to constantly keep track using a gps or map and compass.
At SU 1822 0735 there is a gate into Great Linford Inclosure.  The plan was to turn left onto the cycle track but the ground was not too wet so we walked across the Inclosure and out through a second gate at SU 1846 0761 and then walked along the edge of the wood parallel to Linford Brook.
We stopped for coffee at the FB where there was good seating.
We continued along this path which was gettingg quite wet underfoot but not too difficult until nearing the end of Roe Inclosure we headed back onto the cycle path.  We stayed on this cycle track until we reached Amie's Corner where we headed back into the woods.  The paths across this section are again difficult to follow and a gps is a great help.
The path improves towards the west of Appleslade Inclosure and there are some excellent views on reaching the high ground on Red Shoot Plain.
Some more careful navigation is needed to keep on the right paths back to Moyles Court.

Lunch at The Original White Hart in Ringwood.  Two meals for £10 was definately good value but is not somewhere that we are likely to return to too often.  Meals served until 5pm which is also a plus point.

In a cul-de-sac by the village hall.  Not an easy village for parking.
The Worlds End ★
This was a very enjoyable walk on a day that started of bright and breezy with quite a bit of cloud but ended up quite dull by the time we reached the pub.
The walk starts with a reasonably gentle climb from Tarrant Gunville up towards Pimperne Wood.  It then follows some field boundaries before reaching more woods at Hancock's Bottom.
It's worth having a look at Harbin's Park Farm which is really well kept but has a very interesting roof on one of its old barns.
The walk includes a really nice variety of open countryside mixed with wooded areas.
The service at the Worlds End was not particularly quick even though it was not that busy.  The "award winning" pie looked as if it was bought in and was passable rather than wonderful.

In Milton Abbas village near The Hambro Arms
The Botany Bay Winterbourne Zelston ★
Rob, Peter, Ray.
From The Hambro Arms we walked through the village and then around the school, not really a public right of way, and out onto the road.
After following the road for a short distance we turned into Thomas's Hill Plantation. There is a pretty steep climb up to the top of the ridge but it is pleasant through the woods.  After a good stretch along the ridge we dropped down towards Hilton with some very black clouds to the west.  The church at Hilton provided some good seating where we stopped and had coffee in the porch.
The walk was then relatively easy until we reached Melmoth's Hill where the paths became rather wet and muddy but still passable without getting wet feet.  There is an interesting old ruin in the woods.
We did a short detour to have a look inside the Abbey via the back door to prevent extra work for the lady who was busy cleaning the floor.
We arrived back at the car a little too late for a meal at The Hambro so went back to The Botany Bay for lunch where we were just in time for the last of the carvery.  It was OK but would not win any prizes.

The Antelope very large car park
The Antelope ★★
Walked a short distance north east up the A348 before turning off onto the Ferndown Stour and Forest Trail.
You might expect this to be well signposted but it is not and the path seems to wander away from the one marked on the map but only by a small distance.  At SU 0657 0155 the official path turns over a stile by the electricity pylons and then curves round in a clockwise direction.  This path is virtually invisible and vanishes into scrubby woods.  It would be better to ignore this and find an alternative cutting off this corner.
Back on the main path there is a useful underpass under the A31 leading to the Police Station and Ferndown Forest Golf Club.
We ignored the Castleman Traiway made up path and chose to walk along the smaller path through Hamwoods Copse unfortunately 2/3rds of the way along this route, just after crossing a made up path,  the path became quite overgrown first with shrubs and then with ferns.
At the end of this section we rejoined the Castleman Traiway lathough after Uddens Drive it is difficult to see where it goes.   It is however fairly easy to find a way down to the bridge that crosses the A31 close to Stapehill Farm.  Just after the bridge the path turns sharply left then right to avoid the private road down to the farm.
Cross the road by The Old Thatch towards Knoll Gardens and then take the track around the gardens and back onto the heathland.
The paths across the heath look straightforward on the map but unfortunately the map does not represent the reality!  Keep a close watch on gps or compass to make sure you keep going in the right direction.
Lunch at The Angel Inn was a bit pricey but the food and the service were both very good.  Steak and Ale pie (proper pies) £10.65, Tea £2 each.
There were lots of fungi to photograph on this walk.
