There was some light drizzle as we arrived but it quickly stopped and we set off along the old tramway.
That was the last we saw of the rain until about two minutes after we arrived back at the car when it absolutely poured down. We were so lucky!
It was a very pleasant walk and the paths were generally fairly easy to follow. The only tricky bit was getting back onto the old tramway from Soldiers Road. The heath in that area was quite boggy in places. There is actually a path but it is not shown on the older maps such as that below.
