BOOKS
In November 2023 I participated in a photography and book making workshop at Hartland Quay.
I had previously made a couple of Blurb books but this workshop involved taking a set of photographs and assembling them into a hand made book. This was so much more interesting and challenging.
The workshop was led by Adrain and Clea Beasley and Paul Sanders. It was excellent. So much so that I have signed up for more of their workshops with a similar theme.
Check them out in the Links page below.
This short video shows the second book which I made at a workshop with Adrian and Clea in Clovelly. This is a Japanese Stab Bound Book with Tortoise style stitching.
Unfortunately the original version had a few pages in the wrong order so I had to take it apart and put it back together again.
I did this at home and without the usual excellent tuition from the workshop leaders this presented some additional challengers.
The post workshop notes that were provided were however easy to follow and the end result is quite satisfying.
My first book at Hartland was a Drum Leaf book. I managed to get the first page in this one upside down. I tried to add a replacement page in the correct orientation but this was not very successful so I decided to make a completely new version.
